Update on all the Kiddos

Brayden just finished the Fall Season of Baseball, his team took 3rd place. He played second base, short stop and outfield. He is getting to be a better hitter each season too. He is going to start Basketball after Thanksgiving. He also just got his report card and got straight A's. He worked hard this six weeks and it paid off. He is doing great in 6th grade and finally adjusting to the change from elementary.

Braxton is doing great too, he started up gymnastics again and has moved up from intermediate to advanced. He has been practicing back hand springs all over the house and is working hard at landing a backflip. He was student of the month the first month or school and got a green sheet positive office referral for being such a great student and coming up with unique ides in math. Bo and Brynn turned 18 months the day before Halloween. They are so full of life and energy. They definitely keep me on my toes. I am constantly getting them down from counters, tables, play kitchens, etc....(they are climbers) Their vocabulary is improving daily .

Brynn only weighs 18lbs and is very petite, Bo weighs in at 22lbs and is still slender for his age. They both jumped up to the 50th percentile in height for their age, which is the biggest jump they have had so far.
Bo is in love with pigs(not sure where this came from), we finally bought him a little toy pig from toy story 3. He loves it! He sleeps with it at nap time and bed time, he carries it around and when when he can't find it he throws his hands up in the air and says, "Where's PEEG?" it's so cute.
Brynn likes to copy everything Bo does and test our limits, the other night Bo was pulling my hair and I was telling him no no and she was watching and listening to the whole thing. I went into the kitchen and she followed, I had to bend down to pic something up and she came over and yanked my hair as hard as she could. Little stinker!

Preemie Awareness Month (NICU-Birth Story)

I wrote this 2 months ago and decided to post it in honor of Preemie Awareness Month.
There is a new show on Discovery Health called NICU. It shows different families through the birth of a baby and their stay in the NICU. I watch it, but it's hard. Jacob always asks me why I'm watching it. I'm not totally sure but I think it has something to do with how my sweet babies started out their lives. I can relate. I know exactly how those Mothers feel.
I've never really talked much about my experience because it was too hard, oh and I hate to cry.
I need to write down some of my thoughts and feelings so I can have a record of that journey.
I think after 16.5 months I'm ready to write this down.
Here's how it all started...
April 29th in the evening sometime, it was raining, I had been having contractions all day, nothing new, but these were more intense. I knew I would be 32 weeks exactly the following day. I was worried, I was in pain, I knew it was time to go to the hospital. I told Jacob and we headed out, after the whole annoying process of going through the ER drama we were up in L&D. I was hooked up to the monitors and my contractions were every 3-5 minutes. They immediately started me on the Magnesium drip. I didn't even have time to go to the restroom one last time before they shoved the catheter in. I think it took like 4 times and 2 nurses. UM, not fun!
They started the drip and I remember getting really sweaty, I was so hot, dripping wet, kept kicking the covers off. I remember seeing Jacob shivering over in the corner with hospital blankets all over him. I guess they kept turning down the air for me. It was like 55 degrees, but it felt like 155 to me. I was in and out of a sleepy state all night, occasionally I was feeling contractions but for the most part they were being managed by pain meds.
The next morning, the perinatologist came down to do an ultrasound and check out the babies, it seemed through the night a certain points Brynn's heart rate would fall, so they wanted to check and see what was happening. My OB came in a little after too and said you are having these babies in 30 minutes. I remember thinking we don't even have a camera!!!! We sent out a few texts and made a few phone calls and the anesthesiologist was immediately in the room giving me an epidural.
I was wheeled down to the OR with Jacob close by. I was scared to death, but at the same time completely out of it.
Jacob kept making sure I was breathing because he said I looked dead(thanks honey) (c:
As soon as everything was set up they started the C section, I felt a little pressure, but was really concentrating on hearing my babies cry. After what seemed like an eternity they pulled out baby A, she was crying a little( I loved that noise) it was 11:30am, then what seem like at least 15 minutes if not more they pulled out baby b, he cried a little too, but he did, the Dr again calls out 11:30am. Jacob and I both looked at each other in disbelief had all that really happened in less than a minute. Amazing!
There were Dr's and nurses, the nicu team everywhere, it was crazy. They were over in the corner working on the babies and I didn't have a clue what was happening, all of a sudden I feel lots of pressure and I say, OUCH! The doctor apologizes and says, oh sorry we are just putting your uterus back in and I'm not sure if I said this out loud or not but I said, YOU TOOK IT OUT! LOL! I had no idea they did that.
Pretty soon they bring my cute precious sweet babies by my face for a quick look and kiss and then they were off to the NICU.
I didn't get to see them again for 24 hours. )c:

Halloween!

We celebrated Halloween this year by going to our church Trunk or Treat. We managed to get one family picture, after that I didn't see the older boys until it was time to leave.
Bo and Brynn loved the candy, and even kept their wigs on the whole time, everyone loved their costumes, they were so cute!

Words

Brynn and Bo have recently started to say words. I love this stage. They are adding words to their vocabulary weekly. They are learning to do new things and are really into exploring the world around them.

They are understanding more and more each day too.

Here are some words they are saying:
Bo's Words
Mama
Dad
Dog
Hi
Bye Bye
Ball
Cracker
Cookie
Elmo
Amen
Tickle
Night night
boo!

Brynn's words
Bo
Bubba(brother)
ball
Hi
Bye Bye
Mama
Dad
Tickle
Night night
cheese
boo!

They both make a fishy face, bark like a dog and make the sound of a monkey. They point to their noses, hair, belly buttons, bum's and toes. They love to give kisses too!

When you ask Bo where his piggies are he points to them and says tickle, tickle.

First day of School!

The boys started school on Monday. Brayden survived his first day of middle school and is in the 6th grade. Braxton is becoming an old pro at Elementary and is in the
4th grade. Both boys seem to be doing great and liking school. Let's hope it doesn't wear off too soon.

Summer is here!

We took the twins swimming for the first time today. Brynn loved it, Bo took a awhile to get used to it, but towards the end was enjoying himself. I definitely will not be able to take them by myself. It wore me out, but it was a lot of fun!

Brayden as Quarterback

Brayden just finished up his season as a quarterback on his flag football team. HE did great! The team not so much. It was their first time playing and Jacob's first time coaching. It was fun to watch though.

One Year Check up

Woohoo we made it a whole year! Today the babies went for their 1 year check and immunizations. They did pretty good considering 5 shots each. YOWZA! It was very sad, I hate that part.
Here are their stats:
Bo at birth- 4lbs 2 oz
18 3/4 inches long

Weight- 19 lbs. 2oz.-10%
Height- 28 3/4 inches- 25%
Head- 19 1/4 inches 90%
He is staying right on track with his growth curve.

Brynn at birth 3 lbs 14oz.
18 inches long

Weight- 15lbs 8.5oz-not on the charts
Height- 28 inches- 20%
Head- I think it was 18 something, but it was 50%

Her weight has slowed down a bit but she is still growing, the doctor said " I wish I had her metabolism", so nothing to worry about she is just a skinny little girl.

Anyways they are doing really good!
