You know you've all heard the stories about food storage and how it can save your life etc... or get you through the tough times. I would like to share with you my story.
Do you ever get the feeling someone out there doesn't want you get something done? Today I had that feeling while I was making or trying to make chocolate chip cookies, a new recipe my sister Audrey gave me.
I went to the store yesterday to get the ingredients. Today I was all set and started to make the cookies. I get to brown sugar and can't find it anywhere, so I run to the store. After I'm home I start the recipe again where I left off, I get to regular sugar....I open my canister, nothing. WHAT!?!?!?!?! I search my cupboards, pantry etc...to no avail.
Then I remembered my food storage, I immediately call my sister Wendy and ask her how long sugar lasts, she's been doing a lot of research on it lately and trying to get hers in order. I knew she would know. 20 + years......we have a winner. I've only had mine for five. hip hip hooray. Now I sit with a stomach ache, from all the cookies I've eaten, but it was alllllllllllll worth it. Thank you food storage!

LOL!! Thank goodness for food storage in emergencies like that! I'm glad you got the cookies made. They are definitely worth the trouble!
HELLLLOOOO!!! Hahaha, I am lol b/c I have also stalked your blog and I have no idea why I never left a comment. So thanks for leaving one on mine. How are you? Where are y'all living now?
I am so happy that food storage saved your...uhh...cookies. haha, that is great. I have also dived into mine for treats SEVERAL times. I need to start rotating it better b/c our are about 6 years old and the life span of most is 5. CRAP! So now we are trying to get things we actually USE or buy the stuff that last 30 years.
LOL! I want the recipe!
Good to know when the hard times hit I can come to your house for cookies! Did you add dried apple rings?
Maybe now you should add brown sugar to the storage! *giggle*
I could have the most hard-nosed trainer, on Nutri System for free, and still find a way to NOT do weight loss thing!
mmmmm those cookies are soooo good!!!
I agree with Audrey...they are worth the trouble...she made 60 this weekend and Kevin and I stayed with them...I think there were probably less than 20 left when we left on Sunday...and kevin keeps telling me to make them...
That's a truly inspiring story. I'm glad you are following the counsel of the prophets.
